This movie gave everything I love in a Scream film.
Gory kills, fun meta commentary, excellent killer reveal. I loved the reference to A Nightmare on Elm Street in that one shot with the sign. David Arquette’s final performance as Dewey was amazing. So sad to see the character go. But at least his kill was amazingly gory. Honestly everyone’s performance was excellent in this. I enjoy how they added a character named Wes as a way to symbolize/represent Wes Craven. That man is one of my favorite directors. May he rest in piece. I love how there was no pointless lines. And the mystery of Ghostface’s identity this time is well done. Though it gets more obvious at the near end of act 2. It took a bit too long for my liking to get to the introduction of the og 3: Sidney,Gale and Dewey. Which its fine. They wanna show their new characters, fair enough. One of my absolute favorite things is that Deat Meat duo,James A. Janisse and Chelsea Rebecca makes a cameo in this. I love those 2 and I adore the kill count.

Honestly so good!! I loved watching this on theatre on opening night, it was so exciting to be in the theatre with other fans of the franchise and experiencing it all together. Jenna Ortega did such an amazing job for the opening scene, I was completely blown away at how well she did. Everything about this one was just perfect.

And wow, Sydney has kids and is married!!

The only thing I didn’t like about the movie however is Dewey’s unfortunate death.. I honestly wasn’t expecting that😩

And also the fact that Wes Craven wasn’t the director, but the other new directors did a pretty good job.
I've never been a huge fan of the genre/franchise, but for the first 'rebrand' of 2022 it's a plethora of nostalgia, comedy, and mild gore! With some fantastic slasher scenes, the effects are subtle without being stomach turning but should still sate the fans of the brand. Much like any movie of its type the only down side is the predictability. I'd give it 4.5 but rounded up for the amount it made me laugh as it took the mick out of itself for the duration. As someone who hasn't watched the entire back catalogue I'm sure some of the inside jokes went over my head. I don't, however, feel this took anything away from my enjoyment. Though I would say if you don't know the premise and content of at least the original, you'll be missing out a bit.
It's hard to say anything else without spoilers so I'll leave it there 😂
Worth a watch 👍
